Swiss man abducted, robbed

-

A 55-year-old Swiss national was allegedly robbed after still unidentified suspects snatched him at Cubao, Quezon City Saturday morning, police said.

Laguna police chief Senior Superintendent Felipe Rojas Jr. identified the victim as writer Rene Kurt Meirhans, who currently resides in Tarlac City.

Meirhans said his abductors released him in Cabuyao, Laguna, unharmed.

Investigators said Meirhans was walking in Cubao when at least three men shoved him into a red Mazda vehicle at around 6 a.m.

Meirhans said the suspects took his wallet, which contained P6,000, 50 euros and identification cards; a Nokia N80 cell phone; some business papers; and his shoes.

After four hours of traveling, the suspects released Meirhans near an overpass in Barangay Sala, Cabuyao. The victim immediately reported the incident at the Cabuyao police station and was given assistance in filing a complaint at the Quezon City Precinct 7. – Arnell Ozaeta
