Cabbie arrested for 4 taxis with identical plates

-

A cab driver, believed to be a member of a well-entrenched syndicate, was arrested yesterday in Malabon after he was found in possession of four taxicabs belonging to four transport owners but having identical license plates.

Ricardo Cano was arrested after failing to present documents showing proof of ownership of the seized vehicles.

Seized from Cano were four white Toyota Corolla sedans respectively marked Jen-Ed and Lorevir (both cars sporting the same license plate TWT-762) and Speed Blow and Pagayaon taxis (both with license plate TWT-754).

Cano refused to cooperate with authorities and opted to remain silent. According to the Land Transportation Office, the seized plates were issued to other vehicles.

Police arrested the suspect at around 5:45 a.m. along B. Juan street in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City.

The Malabon police monitored Cano after they received information about Cano’s alleged suspicious activities at the Caltex gas station on Macarthur Highway in Barangay Potrero, Malabon.   – Jerry Botial
