Fire destroys plastics factory in Valenzuela

- Pete Laude -

Some P10 million worth of property went up in smoke when a seven-hour fire broke out at a factory that manufactures plastic tables and chairs before midnight Saturday in Valenzuela City.

Chief Inspector Agapito Nacario, Valenzuela City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) chief, said a fire of still unknown origin razed the Fuzon Plastic Co. building and its contents.

The plastic products manufacturing firm, located on Donesa street in Barangay Canumay West, is owned by Chinese-Filipino businessman William Tan, Nacario said.

Inspector Enrico Caco, the local BFP intelligence and investigation unit chief, said the fire broke out at the finished products section of the firm’s warehouse at about 11:10 p.m.

The fire spread rapidly to other parts of the warehouse.

Firefighters took more than five hours to put the fire, which reached Task Force Alpha, under control. They prevented the blaze from leaping to adjacent establishments but had a hard time fighting the conflagration because of the highly flammable materials inside the building, Caco said.

Caco said that the blaze was declared out at around 6:50 a.m. yesterday. Nobody was reported hurt. Valenzuela City arson investigators have yet to determine what caused the blaze.
