Wounded robbers ask QC cops for medical help

- Perseus Echeminada -

Two robbers, riding in tandem on a motorcycle, were cornered Sunday evening after they ran into a street swarming with policemen.

The suspects, who were earlier wounded in a shootout with responding policemen, were escaping along Tomas Morato Street when chanced upon by men in uniform conducting routine inspection of business establishments in the city.

Realizing that they were already surrounded, one of the suspects dropped to the ground and appealed to police officers for medical treatment.

“In God’s name, please bring us to a hospital,” one of the suspects implored.

Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula said the suspects, Marvin Morta and Joven de Leon, were running away from a team of policemen after snatching a woman’s handbag along Roces street.

“We just saw them suddenly emerge from the corner and stop right in front of the SWAT members,” he said.

Gatdula said the wounded suspects were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.

Police reports said the suspects snatched the bag of a certain Rosalinda Jabel, who immediately sought police assistance from a passing mobile car.

The suspects pulled out their handguns but were beaten to the draw.

Although wounded, they managed to speed away on their motorcycle but ran into the phalanx of policemen.
