Moneylender killed, robbed of P130,000

-

A 43-year-old housewife was robbed and stabbed dead inside her house in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday morning.

The body of Norma Dacanay, an OYSTER (Out-of-School Youth Towards Economic Recovery) cleanliness and beautification personnel assigned in Makati City, was discovered by her 17-year-old son in the bathroom past 10 a.m. The victim was reportedly alone in the house when she was attacked.

Detective Jay Santos said Dacanay suffered at least 15 puncture wounds inflicted by a pointed instrument.

Santos said the house was in total disarray, indicating there may have been a fierce struggle before Dacanay was killed.

At least 100,000 cash, P30,000 worth of jewelry and Dacanay’s cellphone are missing, according to Santos.

Dacanay, who was in the lending business, reportedly had recently acquired more than P100,000 loan from an insurance firm.

Santos said the suspect could be an acquaintance of Dacanay since there was no sign of forced entry, and police found two unconsumed cups of coffee on a table in the living room.

Police are questioning Dacanay’s neighbors if they saw who visited Dacanay just before her body was discovered. – Nestor Etolle
