Barias: No need for NCRPO revamp
There will be no revamp in the five police districts, according to incoming Metro Manila Police chief Director Geary Barias, who assumes office on Oct. 2.
Barias said there is no need for a reshuffle, considering that three of the five police district directors have just been appointed to their positions – Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales of the Manila Police District (MPD), Chief Superintendent Luiso Ticman of the Southern Police District (SPD) and Senior Superintendent Leon Nilo dela Cruz of the Eastern Police District (EPD).
Northern Police District (NPD) director Chief Superintendent Pedro Tango and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula will remain at their respective posts.
Barias vowed to intensify the campaign against street crimes.
Statistic shows that most victims of these street crimes are ordinary workers and commuters living a hand-to-mouth existence.
Barias, however, expects the five police district directors to perform well or he would recommend their relief to the Senior Officers Placement and Promotions Board (SOPPB).
Barias will take over the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) from Deputy Director General Reynaldo Varilla, who will be the Philippine National Police deputy chief for operations. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
