2 bombs found in Pasay

Two improvised bombs were recovered and successfully diffused by the Pasay Police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team yesterday morning.

Police Officer 1 Randy Fortuna, a SWAT member, said Barangay 162 Chairman Agustin Morga was the one who turned over to them the improvised bombs around 10:30 a.m.

Morga said a woman renting an apartment along Apelo Street in Malibay surrendered to him the improvised explosives she found in the room of her son, Glen Mandejas.

Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio said Mandejas and his mother had a quarrel.

Police said firecracker powder was placed inside two mineral water bottles, which were then kept in a plastic bag.

Valerio said the bomb had no triggering device and would only explode if ignited. He added that the explosive was not powerful enough but can still harm people if it explodes near them.

The SWAT brought the explosives to the police station for safekeeping.

Valerio said he issued the order for his men to apprehend Mandejas so he could be investigated.  – Rhodina Villanueva
