SPD cops to train with Butte, California lawmen

Southern Police District director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales has announced that he is talking with law enforcement officials in Butte County, California to provide training for a number of SPD policemen.

Rosales said that he already met with Butte County officials when he went on a trip to the United States more than a month ago.

“I had initial talks with concerned officials and we will be soon drafting the terms of agreement as to this undertaking,” he said.

Rosales said SPD policemen will still have to undergo a selection process before they are finally chosen as the ones who will be sent to undergo training abroad.

“There will be a set of criteria that must be observed. We will look into the records of these cops. We will subject them to evaluation. Those who have figured in a number of cases, especially major ones, will not be considered except for those who only acted in self-defense,” Rosales explained.

He noted that the chosen policemen will undergo training to polish their skills in investigation and intelligence-gathering, including proper management of resources.

“The training abroad will serve as incentive to policemen spread all over the municipalities under SPD to do well in their work and to render better service,” Rosales said.      – Rhodina Villanueva
