Cops catch Taguig’s ‘most wanted’

-

Policemen from Taguig and Pasay cities have arrested the man they described as the “most wanted criminal” in Taguig.

The suspect, identified by Taguig police chief, Superintendent Alfred Sotto Corpus as Jhonnel Osorio, was arrested by Police Officer 3 Rogelio Sernat and Pasay Police Officer 2 Fernando Carlos after a brief chase in Barangay Wawa last Sunday.

Corpus said Sernat’s group received a tip-off that Osorio was hiding in Barangay Wawa prompting them to immediately conduct an arrest operation on strength of a warrant of arrest for robbery issued by Judge Leili Sarez of the Taguig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 163.

Carlos, a resident of Barangay Wawa, played a big role in identifying Osorio and assisting Sernat in effecting the suspect’s arrest.

“Police operatives spotted Osorio, but (he) sensed their presence and tried to escape by hurriedly flagging down and boarding a passing passenger jeepney bound for Pasig City,” Corpus said.

Corpus said Sernat’s group chased Osorio and caught him at around 1:30 p.m. along Gen. Luna street in Barangay Tuktukan, Taguig.

He said Osorio also has pending warrants of arrest for carjacking and robbery at Pasig City RTC Branches 156 and 27, respectively.

Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga lauded the Taguig police for their determination to arrest Osorio.  – Jose Rodel Clapano
