The Marikina City police is hunting down a drug addict believed to be behind the killing of a woman, alleged to be a drug pusher, last Thursday in front of her terrified grandson.
Marikina City police chief Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr. said Mila Adorna, 55, a native of Masbate and resident of Tanguile street in Barangay Fortune, told police last Aug. 3 about the threats she had been receiving from the unnamed drug addict.
“We have strong belief that the drug addict has something to do with Adorna’s killing,” said Ramos, as he withheld the name of the suspect pending his arrest.
Initial investigation showed that Adorna’s grandson was about to urinate near a neighbors house at 11 p.m. Thursday when he was accosted by two men who asked about his grandmother.
The boy led the men to their house, where they waited for Adorna. When she arrived, she recognized the two men but before she could utter a word one of them shot her at close range with a handgun. She died on the spot while her killers walked out of the house.
Ramos said they were able to get hold of a picture of the drug addict but Adorna’s grandson failed to identify him as the gunman.
The suspect’s neighbors also told police investigators that he left for vacation in Bicol last week.
