Boxer wanted for murder of woman, grandson

Police have launched a manhunt against a professional boxer who allegedly killed a 52-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson in their house in Tondo, Manila the other night.

Roy Fuentes, 28, a professional boxer fighting in the lightweight category, has been incriminated in the twin slayings due to text messages he allegedly sent to his victims’ neighbor admitting to the crime, according to Chief Inspector Alejandro Yanquiling Jr. who heads the homicide section of the Manila Police District (MPD).

Delia Mancio and her young grandson Timothy Andrie Solvera were discovered dead in their house past 8 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said Mancio could have been suffocated by a pillow placed over her face while Solvera had two stab wounds in his chest.

Yanquiling said the boy could have witnessed the crime, prompting the suspect to kill him. Aside from the two stab wounds, the boy’s face was also beaten up.

Myra Oira, 28, a neighbor of the victims and a close confidante of the suspect, showed police investigators a series of text messages allegedly sent to her by Fuentes.   – Nestor Etolle
