Chavit’s son to pursue case vs attackers

A son of former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has vowed to pursue the charges against two men who attacked him at an Internet gaming shop in Pasig City.

Senior Superintendent John Sosito, head of the District Investigation and Detective Management Division (DIDM) of the Eastern Police District (EPD), said Randolf “Randy” Singson has completed his testimony on the attack on him by the two suspects, one of them identified only as Mr. Chen.

“The victim appeared before us to give his statements on the incident. We are just awaiting a copy of his medical certificate before filing physical injury charges against the suspects,” said Sosito, adding that the EPD’s police artist has prepared sketches of Chen and his companion.

Singson sustained cuts and bruises in the head and body and was treated at the Rizal Medical Center.

Sosito said they also coordinated with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to determine the true owners of the black Chrysler car with commemorative plates 300-C, which Chen and his companions used in their escape.

Initial investigation by Sosito revealed that Chen is a regular customer of the Internet gaming shop located at the former site of the “Payanig ng Pasig.”

The shop employees do not know Chen’s real name nor his address.

“He speaks in halting tagalog,” said Sosito, noting that Chen could be a foreign national.

Singson was waiting for a companion at the Internet shop when he decided to watch Chen play at the online casino.

Witnesses claimed that Singson could have distracted Chen,  who got irked and confronted him. At the height of a heated argument, Chen’s companion beat Singson. Instead of pacifying his companion, Chen joined him in the attack.  – Non Alquitran
