A 24-year-old man was burned to death when the motorcycle he was driving burst into flame after a head-on collision with a passenger jeepney along Belfast Avenue in Barangay Pasong Putik, Fairview, Quezon City shortly before dawn yesterday.
Police Office 2 Ferdinand Paglinawan identified the victim as Rey Lardizabal. Alijandro Manty and Ronie Monticaldo, who were on another motorcycle, were also injured.
Initial investigation showed that Lardizabal was racing with another motorcyclist on Belfast Avenue when he rammed into an oncoming jeepney at an intersection.
“The motorcycle burst into flame upon impact, burning the victim,” Paglinawan said.
The driver of the jeepney, Eddie Mapanding, voluntarily surrendered to the police. – Perseus Echeminada
