A son of former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson was mauled last Tuesday by two men at the height of an argument inside an Internet casino outlet in Pasig City.
The victim, Randolf “Randy” Singson, 43, of Galleria Regency condominium in Ortigas Center, sustained cuts and bruises in the head and body and was treated at the Rizal Medical Center.
Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Luizo Ticman ordered a manhunt for the suspects, one of whom was identified only as Mr. Chen, who fled on board a black Chrysler car, with commemorative plates 300-C.
Ticman said they are verifying at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) the owner of the vehicle to get the identity of the suspects.
Senior Superintendent John Sosito, head of the EPD District Investigation and Detective Management Division (DIDMD), said the young Singson was waiting for his companions at the Internet gaming shop at about 3:30 p.m. when he decided to watch Mr. Chen play an on-line casino game.
Witnesses told Sosito that Singson was allegedly distracting the suspect who got irked and confronted the victim.
Gaming assistant Desiree Molina, cashier Karen Conde and security guard Michael Sipadjan claimed that at the height of the argument, Mr. Chen’s companion suddenly attacked Singson. The two suspects mauled the victim.
Probers said when the young Singson fell on floor, the suspects fled on board the black Chrysler.
Ticman instructed Sosito to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.
The EPD director also ordered the deployment of additional police personnel in the area where the “Payanig sa Pasig” was formerly located.
Pasig City Mayor Bobby Eusebio said local officials will assess the peace and order situation in the area which is now the center of entertainment establishments, business offices and call centers in Pasig.
“Right now, there is a police detachment there but we have to assess the situation in the area to determine if there is a need to augment their personnel with our local police force,” said Eusebio.
Eusebio added that they are also closely coordinating with the owners of the establishments in the area to address the peace and order concerns.
