Las Piñas bank robbed

At least six armed men staged a daring bank robbery in Las Piñas yesterday morning in a heist that took less than five minutes.

No one was harmed in the incident but the suspects were able to escape with some P30,000 worth of cash and valuables.

Las Piñas Police chief Superintendent Joseph Angan said manhunt operations have been launched against the group.

“We are coordinating with the Cavite Provincial Police Office since the suspects fled towards the direction of Bacoor using the Zapote route,” he told The STAR.

Angan said at around 11 a.m., three armed men barged into the First Macro Bank located along Diego Sierra street, Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno, with at least three others serving as lookouts.

According to witnesses, the suspects were not wearing masks and were armed with .45 caliber pistols and rifles.

They managed to take some cash from the tellers and other personal belongings of employees and clients but failed to open the vault.

Angan said the group fled the scene using two motorcycles and an old box-type vehicle of still unknown model or color.

“It’s a small bank. We are exploring all angles,” he said, adding that the lone security guard manning the entrance was reportedly in the comfort room when the heist took place.
