TV host posts bail on wife abuse raps
Television host Willie Revillame posted P12,000 bail yesterday for his temporary liberty after the city prosecutor’s office charged him with violating Republic Act 9262 or the law penalizing violence against women and children before the Quezon City regional trial court (RTC).
The court earlier adopted a policy banning journalists from getting details on cases involving women and children to protect their right to privacy.
According to radio station dzMM, the charges filed by city prosecutor Gibson Araulla Jr. stemmed from a complaint by his estranged wife, Floracie “Liz” Almoro.
The radio station reported that Revillame appeared before Quezon City RTC Branch 89 Judge Elsa de Guzman and posted P12,000 bail.
Almoro, the report said, alleged that Revillame subjected her to humiliation and verbal abuse, and that he engaged in “dirty sexual affairs.” She also claimed that in May 2006, Revillame tried to hit her with a chair and threw a remote control at her.
