NBI seizes P2.6-M fake Lee jeans

-

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized counterfeit Lee jeans worth P2.6 million in simultaneous raids conducted recently at a shopping center in Pasay City.

Agents of the NBI’s intellectual property rights division, led by lawyer Jose Justo Yap, said they raided the sales outlet of LWH Trading located at the ground floor of the Baclaran Shopping Mall and the stockroom of Parka Bargain Center in Park Avenue.

Seized from the two establishments were 2, 206 pairs of counterfeit Lee jeans.

Yap said they have been monitoring the establishments following reports from Orion Support Inc. (OSI), a market research firm representing the intellectual property rights of HD Lee Co.

The raids were conducted through search warrants from Judge Reynaldo Ros of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 33.

The owners of the two establishments will be charged with trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293. – Edu Punay
