Some households in BF Homes in Parañaque City may soon enjoy water from the tap, according to a local official who said Maynilad Water Services Inc. is installing water pipes in several areas of the subdivision, which has been waterless for more than a decade.
Diana Quiros of the city’s Homeowners’ Affairs Office said water pipes have been installed in the “Subpress” area and along Sucat, and currently being laid out in houses along President’s Avenue.
“To follow are households in the BF Homes Subdivision wherein pipe installation will be undertaken on phase by phase system,” Quiros added.
Maynilad, which has been in close coordination with the city government, is reportedly undertaking the installation activities.
The water firm has assessed that it still has enough water to divert to Barangay BF, provided they are allowed to enter the subdivision to set up their infrastructure.
The water supply system of BF Waterworks, operated by subdivision developers, reportedly deteriorated over the years and is no longer a viable service provider to the residents.
Residents of BF Homes are now dependent on water delivered by private companies after water pumps and deep wells in the area dried out.
Meanwhile, Hernando Juatas, convenor of the Homeowners’ Welfare Advocacy Group, said they are proposing to concerned officials of Maynilad to have the main pipe installed along Aguirre and El Grande Avenues working again.
“Once repairs are undertaken and connection of the main pipe to households has again been established, concerned residents will again have their regular supply of water,” Juatas said adding that if the plan pushes through, addressing the water supply problem can be done in stages.
He also raised the possibility of water stations being put up in affected areas within the subdivision once the main pipe becomes serviceable again. – Rhodina Villanueva
