The power of lunch

- Jennifer Ong -

All re-electionist mayors of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela (Camanava) took early leads over their opponents yesterday and hoped to maintain this lead until they are  proclaimed in the next three or four days.

“I am humbled by the overwhelming vote of confidence by the people of Valenzuela for giving me again their trust to continue my service to the city,” said Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian.

Partial official results of canvassing being held at the Valenzuela City Convention Center show Gatachalian  leading by more than 3,000 votes, with 40 percent of election results counted.

Unopposed Malabon City Mayor Canuto “Tito” Oreta has been waiting in the sidelines yesterday ready for the victory party.

Lawyer Jonalyn Sevillano, city election officer, said Oreta and the rest of the winners may be finally proclaimed tonight at the earliest.

Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri, citing the PPCRV and Namfrel quick counts,  said he was leading by over 71,000 votes over his closest opponent, former  Rep. Luis “Baby” Asistio.     – Jerry Botial
