Rallies on Roxas Boulevard tomorrow

-
Motorists were advised to avoid Roxas Boulevard tomorrow as two major events, a political and prayer rally, are expected to cause traffic buildup along this thoroughfare, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.

MPD Traffic Enforcement Unit assistant operations chief Inspector Carlito Tumamao said both sides of Roxas Boulevard, particularly between Quirino Avenue and Pedro Gil Street, will be closed to traffic from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. to pave the way for the miting de avance of the Buhayin ang Maynila (BaM) ticket.

Hundreds of supporters of BaM mayoralty candidate Arnold "Ali" Atienza and the party’s other candidates are expected to flock to the Rajah Sulaiman Park in front of the Malate Church to attend the event.

Tumamao said motorists going south could take a left at T.M. Kalaw Avenue or Pedro Gil Street, while those headed north could go through Pablo Ocampo Sr. Street or Quirino Avenue then take Taft Avenue.

The charismatic group El Shaddai is reportedly also scheduled to hold a prayer rally at the Quirino Grandstand from 4 p.m. onwards.

Vehicles of El Shaddai members will be occupying Padre Burgos Street, T.M. Kalaw Avenue, and Bonifacio Drive.

Tumamao said they will deploy traffic personnel to ensure that the two events would not paralyze the traffic in the area. – Evelyn Macairan
