Traffic enforcer dies in SLEX accident

A traffic enforcer died after he met an accident while on duty along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) yesterday.

Personnel of the Philippine National Construction Company (PNCC) identified the victim as Jose Quio Galvez, a member of the PNCC motorcycle unit. He was declared dead on arrival at the Asian Hospital.

The victim was monitoring traffic and checking on violators along the SLEX-southbound lane in Pleasant Village, Alabang when a Toyota Revo, with license plate TWW-320, being driven by Jeffrey San Jose smashed into Galvez’s motorcycle at around 8:05 a.m.

San Jose, a resident of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, is now in the custody of the Muntinlupa police.Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide are being readied against him.

A report from the PNCC monitoring office likewise noted a multiple collision involving four vehicles at the southbound lane of SLEX, hours after the accident involving Galvez was recorded.

It was only a minor accident and the traffic officers were able to clear the area immediately.
