Ayala Land launches new mall in QC

Property giant Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) may put up a hotel or office buildings at its P3.5-billion Trinoma shopping center in Quezon City.

ALI president Jimmy Ayala said the additional space for open parking at Trinoma may be converted into additional retail space, hotel or office buildings.

Trinoma, which will open in June , will provide 195,000 square meters of gross leasable area. It has already signed up 600 tenants, mostly those in the fashion industry.

"More merchants are coming in. The mall is 90 percent occupied," Ayala said.

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said during the launching of Trinoma yesterday that the shopping mall should jumpstart the development of more business and commercial establishments in Quezon City.

"Quezon City will be a new watering hole," Belmonte said.

With a base market of 2.4 million residents and a land area of over 16,000 hectares (five times bigger than Makati City), Quezon City is the only urban community in Metropolitan Manila that has the best potential for continuing growth and development.

There are close to 60,000 business establishments in Quezon City.

Belmonte’s vision is to transform Quezon City into a modern urban community.

Trinoma is a four-level super regional shopping center being built at the North Triangle Depot of the Metro Rail Transit- 3 along Edsa. It will operate the flagship Landmark department store and supermarket.

Ayala said Trinoma will have 3,500 parking slots, seven cinemas , and several restaurants.
