Actres’ dad nabbed for estafa

Manila police operatives arrested the other night the Korean father of singer-actress Sandara Park, who is wanted for estafa.

Iksu Park, 47, whose listed city address is Unit 402, Marbella I, Roxas Boulevard, Manila, managed to elude the authorities by changing residence several times, according to Senior Inspector Rene de Jesus, chief of the District Detective Beat Patrol Unit of the Manila Police District.

De Jesus said he received information that Park was seen frequenting the casino at the Networld Hotel in Pasay City. Armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Pedro Corales, De Jesus and his men patiently waited outside the hotel to serve the warrant on Park.

Not long after, Park emerged from the casino and gave himself up peacefully after reading the warrant.

At his detention cell, Park denied hiding from the law, claiming he was not aware that a warrant was issued against him.

In halting English, Park admitted having borrowed P390,000 from complainant Anthony Sy of Barangay La Paz in Makati City. He said he intends to pay Sy but recently lost heavily at the casino.

Park is also hoping that his daughter will shoulder his P40,000 bail bond.
