Manila Assistant City Prosecutor Jessie Bautista filed the charges against Minoru Mori, 60, who was accused of slashing the neck of his son, Eiji Mori. The case was filed by Eiji’s grandmother Rosalia Bisnar, 54, a businesswoman and resident of 2402 Isagani Street, Sta. Cruz, in Manila.
At 3 p.m. on April 9, Mori and his friend, a certain Sato, went to Bisnar’s house. Using Sato as translator, Mori and Bisnar discussed the details of Mori’s pending separation from Bisnar’s daughter, Marissa.
It was at this juncture that Eiji climbed onto a nearby bed and played with his toy cars. The boy tapped his father’s shoulder to get his attention and pointed at his toy. Mori then jumped on the bed in a move Bisnar interpreted as Mori’s willingness to play with his son.
Mori then grabbed the boy’s chin and slashed his neck with a kitchen knife.
Bisnar’s son, Jackie Son, grabbed the child from Mori and the suspect stabbed himself twice. Sato, who appeared shocked by the events, went downstairs but returned with Son.
Son, sat on the suspect’s hands and took the knife from him. Both the victim and his father were rushed to the emergency room of the Chinese General Hospital on Blumentritt street.
According to the medico legal officer, the elder Mori sustained "abdominal injury secondary to stab wounds." – Evelyn Macairan, Theo Agcaoili
