Guard nabbed for firing gun at Binay’s rally

The Makati City police arrested a security guard for firing his gun while Mayor Jejomar Binay, his family members and other local candidates were holding a political rally in Barangay La Paz last Saturday.
PO2 Joseph Robles identified the suspect as Estelito Tumaliuan, 34, a security guard at PMBAI, with offices located at 157 Torresy Building along Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City.
Tumaliuan was charged with illegal discharge of firearms by the police.
Initial investigation conducted by Robles showed that at around 10:30 p.m., Tumaliuan, who was drunk, fired his gun while Binay, other local candidates and residents of Makati were watching a fireworks display in front of the Holy Cross Building on Filmore st., Barangay Palanan.
Residents, who saw Tumaliuan fire his gun, immediately reported the police, which lead to the suspect’s arrest.
Binay asked the police to immediately conduct a thorough investigation and determine whether the incident was related to the threats to his life. – Jose Rodel Clapano
