Caloocan SWAT team wins shootfest

The Caloocan City police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team won the annual National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) shooting competition Saturday, besting 19 other teams that joined the contest.
The Caloocan SWAT team, led by Inspector Rodrigo Soriano, garnered 49.28 points and was adjudged champion in the station level category and was second in the over-all competition.
The Southern Police District was the over-all champion, garnering 49.86 points, Caloocan City police chief Superintendent William Macavinta said.
Third was the Manila Police District with 42.45 points while the Northern Police District SWAT team was fourth with 35.09 points.
In fifth place was Malabon City police SWAT team, which was last year’s champion, garnering 32.97 points.
Valenzuela City was number seven with 30.79 points while Navotas SWAT team was number 13 with 20.02 points.
Of the 20 SWAT teams that participated in the annual shooting event, Las Pinas City police SWAT team was on the tail with 14.47 points.
Macavinta said the competition is held annually at the NCRPO firing range to enhance and gauge the shooting capability of each member of the SWAT team. – Pete Laude
