Pasay to build new city hall

The Pasay City government is set to build a new city hall and hall of justice that will boast of a good view of Manila Bay, officials said yesterday.

"We would want effective delivery of service to the public and the construction of a more modern city hall is one way of realizing this goal," Mayor Allan Panaligan said.

Panaligan said the construction of the two buildings will start this year "within the reclamation area located at the Central Business Park-I Island A along Macapagal Avenue" and end by 2007.

He noted that based on the plan, scenic passenger elevators that would give people a view of the Manila Bay will be put up.

Panaligan said each building will have four stories, three elevators and an auditorium that can accommodate around 200 persons.

Pasay City Administrator Santiago Quial said the Office of the Mayor, the City Administrator’s Office, Public Information Office, City Tourism Office and the City Legal Office will occupy the fourth floor.

The City Treasurer’s Office, Assessor’s Office and the Business Permit and Licensing Office will be on the first and second floors.

"Apart from the said offices, heads of the other units of the Pasay City government are free to choose on what floor they would want to hold office," Quial said. Panaligan said each office will have a mini-conference room and a comfort room. – Rhodina Villanueva
