Suspect in Delgado killing in drug rehab

The prime suspect in the rob-slay of a scion of a prominent clan is reportedly confined at the basement of the Makati Medical Center undergoing drug rehabilitation.

Chief Inspector Alejandro Yanquiling Jr., chief of the Manila Police District’s homicide section, said the place is off limits to everybody, except to immediate relatives.

"The hospital basement houses prominent personalities, including actors and actresses, undergoing drug rehabilitation," he added.

Yanquiling said he would seek the assistance of Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay to effect the arrest of the suspect who is related to the victim.

A witness, who is now under the protective custody of the Manila police, has identified one of the suspects who stabbed to death Federico Delgado through photos.

Yanquiling also absolved Federico’s brother Franco in the murder case. During the initial investigation the only lead left for the police at the crime scene is the name "Franco," which was written allegedly by the victim using his own blood on a wall shortly before he died.

However, Yanquiling said the writing is too clear and legible to be written by a dying man.

"We theorized that only a person in his proper state of mind could have done the writing to mislead investigators. Besides, the victim’s body was too far from the wall," he added.

Delgado reportedly arrived at the family-owned Mayflower Building on Saturday night with his girlfriend Annalisa Peseco when two masked men attacked him with knives.

They also took cash, jewelry and documents from his safety vault.
