Police have arrested four suspects in the killing of a 19-year-old student yesterday in Malabon City.
Alvin Dulap, 19; Ciriaco Falcutan, 19; Edwin Ogana, 26; and James Guntayon, 19; allegedly stabbed Mark Bacia without provocation in a drunken frenzy early yesterday, according to the police.
Senior Superintendent Ramon de Jesus, Malabon City police chief, said at around 1:15 a.m. Bacia and some of his friends were passing by along San Vicente Street in Barangay Maysilo, where Dulap and the others were having a drinking bout, after a night swim at the nearby 168 Golf Club pool.
For no apparent reason, the drunken men attacked Bacia and his friends. One of the assailants stabbed Bacia in the back with a knife.
When Bacia fell to the pavement, another assailant hit him with a big rock in the face.
Bacia died on the spot but his friends were able to flee and seek help from the police.
De Jesus ordered his night watch officers to hunt down the suspects, resulting in the arrest of Facultan, Ogana, Guntayon, and Dulap. Police seized a fan knife from Dulap. Investigators are determining if he was the one who stabbed Bacia.
Inspector Marcelo Orosco, chief of Malabon City police anti-crime unit, said Bacia’s companions identified the four suspects as their attackers.
Orosco said murder charges will be slapped against Dulap and the others suspects.
