Two men were killed and a third was critically wounded when three gunmen fired on a drinking spree last Wednesday night in Caloocan City.
Chief Inspector Crisencio Galvez, Caloocan City police intelligence and investigation chief, said Zaldy Gutierrez, Danny Ferrer and Christopher Ilagan were having a drinking bout at around 6 p.m. outside Gutierrez’s house in Barangay 180 when three men with caliber .45 pistols arrived and fired at them without a word.
Gutierrez and Ferrer were killed while Ilagan was seriously wounded.
"Based on our initial investigation, the victims were having a dispute with some of their neighbors here and one of them is said to be a brother of a military man," Galvez said.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri has ordered city police chief Superintendent William Macavinta to immediately identify and arrest the suspects after some local political candidates claimed that the slain victims were their supporters.
"So far, we haven’t seen any political angle in the case," Galvez said. – Pete Laude
