Teresa Tampaña was still breathing when residents found her lying face down on the canopy at the eighth floor of the España Tower, located along España Avenue shortly before lunch.
She sustained broken legs and severe body injuries when she hit steel railings on the way down, according to investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Jessie Oliveros.
Tampaña was rushed unconscious to the United Doctors Medical Center in critical condition but died hours later.
Police are investigating if her fall from her condominium unit on the 18th floor was a suicide attempt, murder or an accident. She left no suicide note.
Tampaña, a student of Trinity College, lived alone, according to residents. She asked for help before she lost consciousness.
Her father rushed to the hospital upon hearing her daughter’s death but refused to talk to police. "He was still shocked and could not be interviewed," Oliveros said.
