The Mandaluyong City police launched a manhunt for a man who tried to set his two stepchildren on fire inside their shanty in barangay Addition Hills in Mandaluyong City last Friday.
Police identified the suspect as Roger Ramirez, a resident of 541 Block 27, Welfareville Compound.
Gamelba Uy, 36, live-in partner Ramirez’s and mother of the two supposed young victims, filed a complaint against her lover at the Mandaluyong City police.
Uy accused the suspect of dousing her two young children, a 16-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy, with kerosene.
Ramirez allegedly tried to use cigarette lighter to set the children on fire but the lighter malfunctioned. The suspect later went to the kitchen to look for matches.
Uy said she and her children immediately fled from the house and sought the help of neighbors. Rainier Allan Ronda
