Woman killed in QC mishap

-
A 73-year-old woman was killed and at least six other commuters were injured yesterday after a speeding dump truck smashed into the passenger jeepney they were on along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.

Officials of the Quezon City District Traffic Enforcement Unit said, at around 8:45 a.m., a dump truck driven by Ronald Atibagos, 27, rammed into the jeepney from behind, crushing Cecilia Duzon.

The jeepney was in turn shoved into the rear of a Toyota FX taxi.

Duzon later died at the nearby New Era Hospital, where the other injured were also taken.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries, and damage to property are being readied against the truck driver. – Katherine Adraneda
