Muntinlupa opens water station for poor

-
Poor residents of Muntinlupa City can now avail of free drinking water with the recent unveiling of a water refilling station in Barangay Tunasan.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the water refilling station will be a big help to the poor who have no access to a regular supply of drinking water.

"Apart from this water refilling station, we will make available two water tanker trucks to go around the city’s depressed areas. This is in addition to four water trucks that have already been supplying water to poor communities," Fresnesdi said.

City Planning Officer and City Zoning Administrator Allan Cachuela is in charge of the water station, which is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every Monday to Sunday.

Local residents said they are thankful to the city government that they now have a steady water supply.

Fresnedi likewise said water provider Maynilad Water Services Inc. has earlier addressed the problem of water connections of several subdivisions in the city.

Meanwhile, the Parañaque City government announced that Maynilad plans to expand its water supply services to accommodate other subdivisions apart from BF Homes, one of the largest villages in Parañaque.

"However, we still have to get the go-signal of the developer to allow the water company to use the existing distribution network inside the subdivision’s 74 enclaves," said City Administrator Noli Aldip.

Maynilad recently opened its supply-line along President’s Avenue from the main pipe on Dr. A. Santos Avenue with an initial water pressure of seven pounds per square inches, supplying households reaching up to Tropical Supermarket, which is adjacent to the BF gates.— Rhodina Villanueva
