Police are investigating the death of a drug addict who was stabbed dead in Tondo, Manila just before he was about to be taken to a rehabilitation center early morning yesterday.
Renato Lauzon, 24, who was engaged in buying and selling used lumber, was also a known drug addict in the neighborhood who went violent everytime he was high, according to officer-on-case Police Officer 2 Gerardo Abulencia.
Yesterday, Lauzon’s live-in partner Josephine Quiambao planned to bring him to a rehabilitation center in Bicutan, Taguig City. Lauzon was handcuffed the night before by his brother-in-law and a neighbor when he went into one of his tantrums.
They kept watch until the wee hours of the morning when they decided to get some sleep for their trip to Bicutan.
At 5 a.m., Quiambao left the handcuffed Lauzon inside the house to fetch her male companions in another street. However, when they arrived, they saw the victim bloodied and sprawled on the street in front of the house.
Lauzon had five stab wounds in the stomach. Police still have no witnesses who could explain what happened but investigators are also considering the possibility that the wounds were self-inflicted.
