A couple was killed early yesterday morning when the motorcycle they were on smashed into a truck parked along Roxas Boulevard in Parañaque City.
Police Officer 3 Alipio Dimaano, officer-on-case, identified the victims as Mark Arthur de Villa, 26, and his wife Edith, 29, residents of Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas City.
The two sustained serious head injuries and fractures in the other parts of their bodies. Mark Arthur, who was driving, was killed on the spot while Edith died while on the way to the San Juan De Dios Hospital.
Dimaano said the couple was on their way home when Mark Arthur suddenly went out of control and careened into the rear of a Mitsubishi Fuso Canter, which was parked along the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque, around 1:20 a.m.
The truck, which is reportedly a service vehicle owned by power retail giant Manila Electric Company, was parked while a service crew was doing repairs on electrical posts in the area.
The truck’s driver, Larry Añonuevo, gave himself up to authorities. Double homicide charges are being readied against Añonuevo.
