Police are currently investigating how an armored truck fell off the Skyway and smashed onto several vehicles 50 feet below the elevated tollway in Makati City late Wednesday.
Authorities want to determine if anyone should be held accountable.
One person was killed and another was injured. The accident caused a monstrous traffic jam that lasted until 10 p.m. because emergency crews had to clear the road of wrecked vehicles.
Emmanuel Magnague, 25, a teller in the Bank of the Philippine Islands was killed. He was in the armored truck along with two security guards.
According to the police, the armored truck was cruising on the northbound lane of the Skyway, heading towards the Don Bosco exit in Makati, when it reportedly swerved and jumped the railing at around 6 p.m.
It crashed on several vehicles at the corner of Osmeña Highway and Arnaiz Avenue.
Pinky Palabrica Rosales, 43, who was driving a Toyota Revo, suffered a head wound and was brought to the nearby Makati Medical Center. Her 19-year-old son, Owen, was unhurt.
The truck also damaged a Mitsubishi Adventure, driven by one Alfonso Santiago, and two Honda Civics, driven by Chito Catbongan and Inocente Juan, respectively.
