Alleged GRO killer nabbed

Manila policemen have arrested the prime suspect in the gruesome killing of two female guest relations officers (GROs) last night.

Jimmy Alfonso, alias Jimboy Legaspi, 31, was nabbed in his hideout in an exclusive subdivision in Angono, Rizal.

Alfonso, who is reportedly a callboy, managed to elude a police dragnet several times after his photo was made public by the Manila Police District (MPD) recently.

"The whereabouts of Jimboy were furnished by an asset after seeing his photo in the Philippine STAR. We continuously monitor his movements through the asset until we cornered him in Angono," said Inspector Vic Miparanum, acting chief of the MPD’s homicide section.

According to the police, Alfonso had confessed to killing Angie Binuya, 30, and Genlem de Torres, 28, in their condominium unit in Tondo last Jan. 4.

Alfonso claimed that he was drunk at the time of the killings and he blacked out when De Torres refused to lend him money. He clubbed De Torres with a lead pipe on the forehead. Binuya was also killed when she heard the commotion and went out of the shower to investigate.

Alfonso then got a kitchen knife and slashed the throats of the two women to make sure they were dead. He also cut off their right fingers when he couldn’t get their rings off.

Alfonso was the last person seen with the victims’ before and after the killings, making him the likely suspect.

Police are currently trying to find out if Alfonso was involved in the still unsolved killings of gays in the past.
