The Quezon City government is extending the working days and hours of offices involved in processing tax payments in time for the first quarter deadline for payment of business and real estate taxes.
The city hall will be open even on Saturdays and Sundays to accommodate taxpayers who will be settling their tax obligations with the city government at the start of the year.
Jan. 20 is the deadline set for the payment of the citys business taxes.
The city is imposing a 25-percent surcharge and a two-percent monthly interest for late payments.
City Treasurer Victor Endriga rallied taxpayers to take advantage of the expanded working hours to avoid inconveniences during the rush hours in trying to meet the deadline.
To date, there are about 65,000 business establishments operating in the city.
Meanwhile, assistant city administrator for external affairs and department of public order and safety chief Manuel Sabalza said security personnel from the DPOS will be deployed during the collection period to assist in crowd control and information assistance.
Aside from the payment of business taxes, Jan. 20 is also the deadline set by the city government for the renewal of the Mayors permit.
