An American was killed in Mandaluyong City early yesterday when his motorcycle crashed into the railing of a flyover after ramming a van from behind.
Jerome Williams, 37, was killed instantly when he was thrown off his motorcycle and his head hit the pavement.
Police said Willliams left his house in Barangay Highway Hills only some 350 meters away from the flyover where he was killed at around 3:45 a.m. His wife said she didnt know where her husband was going.
Citing an eyewitness account, police said Williams was crossing the flyover when he tried to overtake a taxi. But the taxi driver did not give way and the speeding Williams rammed into the rear of an Isuzu Elf van driven by Victorino Yolip, who later submitted himself to the police for investigation.
Williams lost control and he smashed into the flyover railing. His motorcycle flipped and Williams was thrown off. "They were going down the flyover towards Shaw Boulevard when the accident happened," a witness told the police.
