Two new police chiefs to assume new posts today

Metro police chief Director Reynaldo Varilla expressed confidence yesterday that the incoming district directors of the Southern and Northern Police Districts will live up to the expectation and responsibilities of their jobs.
"They are hardworking and team players and I have worked with them before," said Varilla, referring to Chief Superintendents Roberto Rosales and Pedro Tango.
Rosales and Tango will assume office after a brief turnover ceremony to be presided by Varilla today.
Varilla said Rosales was his provincial director for Quezon when he was director of the Police Regional Office 4-A in Southern Tagalog.
On the other hand, Tango worked under Varilla during his stint as chief of the Regional Intelligence Operating Unit of the now-defunct Capital Command.
While he was in Quezon, Rosales was credited for the arrest of Panulukan Mayor Ronnie Mitra, whose ambulance yielded several sacks of shabu.
Varilla described Rosales and Tango as "no-nonsense police officers with outstanding service records.
When asked by The STAR about his first marching orders to Rosales and Tango, Varilla said he expects the two police officials to perform their responsibilities with "flying colors."
"They should rid their areas of illegal drugs. Our campaign against shabu and other forms of illegal drugs should be without let-up." Non Alquitran
