Murder charges vs ad exec’s boyfriend readied

Police are scheduled to file murder charges today against the boyfriend of an advertising executive who was found dead in her apartment condominium in Mandaluyong City last Nov. 2.

Police found evidence linking Arwin Ramos, who was seen leaving the crime scene hours after Donnabel Tolentino’s body was discovered.

"We have sufficient evidence against him like the positive identification of a witness who saw him hurriedly leaving the condo unit hours before the body of Tolentino was found," said Superintendent Ericson Velasquez, Mandaluyong City police chief.

Tolentino, 35, an advertising executive, was found dead in her condominium unit in Barangay Highway Hills. Evidence showed that she was strangled with a pillow case that was found still tied up around her neck.

According to Velasquez, Ramos, who is also in the advertising industry, has not gone home to his Quezon City nor reported for work since Nov. 3.

Neighbors claimed Ramos is a frequent visitor of Tolentino after office hours. He was last seen in Tolentino’s condo unit by a neighbor at the night of Nov. 2, Velasquez said.

Tolentino was found inside her bedroom, naked from the waist down.

Crime scene investigators from the Eastern Police District reported that Tolentino died of strangulation and that she had sex hours before she was killed. Evidence indicated that she was not raped.

Investigators also found several sets of fingerprints and other evidence that helped the police track down Tolentino’s killer. Police will launch a hunt for Ramos once they get an arrest warrant.

Ramos will be subjected to DNA testing to boost the police’s case.

As of yesterday, Velasquez admitted they have no idea why Tolentino was killed. Tolentino is separated from her husband with whom she has two children.
