QC council OKs supplemental budget

-
The Quezon City Council has approved in first and second reading the city government’s P1.5-billion supplemental budget for the current year sought by Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. to sustain city’s gains in the delivery of basic services as well as its infrastructure development programs in the last five years.

Belmonte asked for the immediate and unanimous approval of the supplemental budget in a letter to the council dated Sept. 6.

The supplemental budget measure, introduced by Councilors Alma F. Montilla and Victor V. Ferrer Jr., was approved by the council following deliberations by the council’s committees on laws, rules and internal government, appropriations and ways and means.

Officials say the administration’s warm ties with the council has been a major factor in the city’s growth.

Belmonte thanked the council for its strong support and partnership with his administration in the effort of improving conditions in the city and promoting development such as better roads, more school buildings, new bridges and more health centers.

Belmonte reiterated the need for a continuing effort to improve city government services, "We are good, but we can still be better." — Perseus Echeminada
