Maynilad’s La Mesa treatment plants ISO accredited

Maynilad Water’s La Mesa treatment plants 1 and 2 has earned the distinction of being the first and only water treatment plants in Metro Manila to meet the ISO 9001:2000, or the international standard for quality management systems.

This means that the La Mesa treatment plants conform to the best standards in its water purification and treatment process, assuring Maynilad customers of safe, potable water that is of world-class standard.

Maynilad was awarded the ISO certificate after an onsite appraisal of the treatment plants conducted by the auditing body TUV SUD Philippines last Sept. 26 to 29.

Maynilad’s ISO accreditation teams received the auditors from TUV SUD, who carried out the inspection even at the height of typhoon Milenyo that hit Metro Manila last Sept. 28.

Engr. Francisco Arellano, head of Maynilad’s Quality and Environment Management Department, stressed that although Maynilad already has efficient quality and environmental systems in place, the certification nonetheless makes it official. "It’s important for a water utility firm like us not only to have quality and environmental systems but to benchmark Maynilad as among the best in the world, that we are internationally acceptable," he said.

Maynilad president Fiorello Estuar lauded all the employees for making possible the early and successful ISO accreditation of Maynilad’s treatment plants. "This affirms our commitment to the quality of our systems, services, protection of our environment and the health and safety of our customers," he said.
