The Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), or number coding scheme, will be suspended throughout Metro Manila today, which has been declared a holiday to mark Eidl Fitr, the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.Even Makati City, which implements a similar, but separate traffic law as a local ordinance, suspended the scheme.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) automatically lifts the UVVRP on holidays since there are less vehicles plying the streets.
Makati City Department of Public Safety (DPS) chief Hermie San Miguel said they are suspending the number coding scheme for the same reason. Michael Punongbayan
