Kidnap suspect turned over to Parañaque cops

A suspected kidnapper is now detained at the Parañaque City jail following her arrest by police operatives.

Superintendent Ronald Estilles, Parañaque police chief, said Evangeline Achumbre, one of the suspects in the kidnapping of a three-year-old girl at the Bicutan Market last January, was apprehended by elements of the San Pascual police station in Masbate last Sunday night.

The arrest was made on the strength of a warrant issued by Judge Leoncia Real Dimagiba of Parañaque regional trial court Branch 117.

Estilles said Achumbre went into hiding in Barangay Pinamandayan, San Pascual, Burias Island, Masbate.

The chief of the San Pascual station immediately informed Estilles of the arrest. Estilles in turn, sent a team, led by Senior Inspector Francisco Villamin, to coordinate with Masbate policemen for the turnover of Achumbre.

Kidnapping charges were earlier filed against the suspect.

Achumbre is tagged as the one who abducted the girl, a resident of the PNR Rail Site in Barangay San Martin de Pores, Parañaque early this year. The victim was last seen playing with other kids at the Bicutan Market before she disappeared. She was rescued by policemen last March in Barangay Panamitan, Kawit, Cavite.

A couple reportedly bought the child for P2,000 from the suspect.
