Described as 5’10" to 5’11" in height, slim built with brown complexion and around 30 to 35 years old, the suspect allegedly shot dead Ralph Nuñez, 35, a part-time cameraman of RPN 9.
"According to witnesses the man shot Nuñez when he refused to hand over his backpack," Bataoil said.
The witnesses, however, failed to described the features of another suspect as he was said to be wearing a cap that concealed his face.
At around noon Friday, Nuñez, who also has a water refilling station business, was about to enter the gate of his house at 2361 St. Joseph Avenue corner Benedict st., Admin Site, Barangay 186, Tala, Caloocan North, when two unidentified motorcycle-riding robbers held him up.
The suspects were after Nuñez backpack, which reportedly contained the P25,000 he had just withdrawn from a bank in Quezon City.
Despite intimidation, Nuñez refused to let go of his backpack, prompting one of the robbers to shoot him with a caliber .45 pistol. He was hit thrice in the body and died on the way to the hospital.
The robbers took Nuñez’s backpack and fled on board a Honda Dream motorcycle.
Bataoil yesterday directed Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Geronimo Reside to identify possible lairs of criminals in Caloocan North and to conduct saturation drives in those areas.
"If we could get the triggerman, the others would just follow," Bataoil said.
