Atienza bags 7th Sandugo Award

For the seventh consecutive year, Manila Mayor Lito Atienza was presented with the Hall of Fame Award in the 8th National Sandugo Awards for Local Government Executives by the Department of Health, Philippine National Red Cross and Philippine Blood Coordinating Council during recognition rites held recently at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
Being the longest Hall of Famer among local government executives, Atienza was cited "for his support, commitment and active involvement in the promotion of voluntary blood donation for seven consecutive years under the health component of the Buhayin ang Maynila program.
"Health is top priority of our Buhayin ang Maynila program which aims to improve the lives of Manileños in all aspects. I am very much honored to receive the Sandugo recognition as its reflects my administrations commitment in making Manila a much better place to live in," Atienza said.
He was "instrumental for the high percentage of voluntary blood donation" in Manila.
Apart from scheduled blood-letting activities in Manila offices, schools and universities, blood donation were also made through regular zonal blood-letting activities per district under the National Voluntary Blood Services Program of the Manila Health Department (MHD) headed by Dr. Marie Lorraine Sanchez.
