PO3 Percy Villanueva, officer on case, identified the victim as Raymundo Limpin, 27, with last known address at Barangay Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City.
Limpin was identified by his sister Luzviminda at Police Community Precinct 8 in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City.
Police said Limpins body was spotted by residents at around 3 a.m. last Wednesday as it floated on the Tullahan River in Sitio Sulok.
They immediately reported this to the nearest police station, which sent a team to fish the body out of the river.
Luzviminda told probers that as early as 5 p.m. last Tuesday, they were looking for their missing kin.
She said that at around just two hours earlier, the victim was having fun with friends by the bank of the swollen Tullahan River near San Ignacio street, where he lived.
Limpin was also busy fishing for whatever junk material he could salvage from the water, intending to sell them later at a local junk dealer.
His sister said her brother found a plastic basin being carried by the strong current and jumped on it as it passed him by.
Both were swept away as the victims friends helplessly looked on.
When found, Limpins body showed blackened bruises and contusions, revealing the effects of the rampaging waters that carried him far away from where he fell.
Limpins body was claimed yesterday by his relatives in Quezon City.
