"The continuous conduct of job fair in the city is a manifestation of the city governments sincere effort to help jobseekers find better and fitting jobs for them," said Mayor Neptali Gonzales II.
Gonzales said the event is another priority project of his administration, which also aims to help the national governments job-generating programs. The activity is the sixth joint undertaking of the city government and TM.
Dubbed as "TM Trabaho Expo 2006," the primary goal is to trim down the number of unemployed in Mandaluyong, pegged at 37,872 as of February 2005, still one of the lowest in Metro Manila.
Emma Javier, chief of the citys Public Employment Service Office (PESO), said they are targeting more than 3,000 job hunters to register for the three-day affair. She said 10 percent of applicants are expected to be hired "on-the-spot."
Javier said there are 50 participating companies which signified their intention to hire workers, including French Baker Inc., Lets Face It, Going Straight Salon, Cherry Foodarama, Abenson Group Co., North Park Noodle House, Automatic Appliances Inc., SM chain of department stores, and Rustans Super Center Inc.
She said 10 recruitment agencies, offering thousands of job vacancies abroad, have vowed to participate in the job fair.
They are A&C International Resources Inc., Active Works Inc., RRJM Intl. Manpower Services Inc., G&P Manpower Services Corp., Lucky Zoe Intl. Manpower Agency, MAB Intl. Services Inc., Pisces Intl. Placement, Real Med Intl, Recruitment Agency, Unity Worldwide Resources Inc., and Venture Management System Intl. Corp.
